Amsterdam Sinfonietta Soloists
with string quintets by Schubert and Dvořák

Amsterdam Sinfonietta’s leaders and the former leader of its double bass group Rick Stotijn go on tour performing a programme including chamber music by Schubert and Dvořák.

Every season Amsterdam Sinfonietta’s leaders and its artistic director Candida Thompson tour Dutch and international concert halls with a captivating chamber music programme. This time they are joined by the former leader of the ensemble’s bass group Rick Stotijn. The programme features Schubert’s celebrated String Quintet in C major in a unique arrangement with double bass. They recorded a highly acclaimed CD of this version under the Channel Classics label in 2015. The first half of the concert features Dvořák’s quintessentially Bohemian String Quintet opus 77 and the Chorale Fantasy by Mohammed Fairouz, a fantasy on a number of Arabic song melodies.

The ‘Schubert String Quintet’ CD can be ordered via our website.

‘The playing is terrific: tasteful phrasing, gracious ensemble intuition and a string sound that’s luminous and poised.’
