Under the name Amsterdam Sinfonietta Soloists a small-scale string ensemble takes popular and little-known jewels of the chamber music repertoire on tour. The musicians’ soloistic qualities are showcased in full bloom in works such as Schönberg’s Verklärte Nacht and Johannes Brahms’s string sextet.

Mahlerfest in string festival
The Sinfonietta String Festival Zeeland Online 2021 opened with a chamber music concert from the Zeeuwse Concertzaal, centered around Gustav Mahler, with pianist Tamara Stefanovich as a soloist. On the programme was Mahlers Piano Quartet, his only surviving chamber music piece. Schnittke incorporated Mahler’s unused sketches into his own piano quartet. Metamorphoses was written by Strauss, Mahler’s contemporary and close friend, for 23 strings, but is performed in the beloved arrangement for string septet.
