In memoriam [cancelled]
with the Nederlands Kamerkoor

The succesful collaboration that brought us to South-America with the Nederlands Kamerkoor, will be reprised in The Netherlands. Fauré’s Requiem is a hymn of praise to life eternal.

Amsterdam Sinfonietta and the Nederlands Kamerkoor give a reprisal of In memoriam, the program with which they toured South America in 2017 to high acclaim. Pärt wrote a hypnotic prayer for peace in memory of the victims of the Madrid bombing. Bach wrote the Chaconne following the death of his first wife, bringing the genre to an unprecedented culmination. The Chaconne surpasses everything previously composed for solo violin. Persecuted by the system and in a depressed state, Shostakovich wrote an In memoriam for himself. He considered Barshai’s arrangement for string orchestra to be better than the original. Fauré’s Requiem is no typical requiem. Rather, it is an optimistic ode to eternal life. Subtle choreography and theatrical elements increase the intensity and emotional impact of these In memoriam works.
