The American Four Seasons
with Isabelle van Keulen

The violinist Isabelle van Keulen makes a return appearance with Amsterdam Sinfonietta performing The American Four Seasons by Philip Glass.

The violinist and violist Isabelle van Keulen enjoys an international career as soloist. Her last performance with Amsterdam Sinfonietta was in 2008 together with her regular duo partner, the pianist Ronald Brautigam, playing works by Felix Mendelssohn and Lera Auerbach. This ‘winning team’ has recorded various CDs, including Mendelssohn’s concerto for violin and piano in collaboration with Amsterdam Sinfonietta. This time Isabelle van Keulen performs the riveting violin concerto The American Four Seasons by Philp Glass.

Philip Glass is among the most influential composers and musicians of the second half of the 20th century. His comprehensive oeuvre ranges from operas, symphonies, concertos, musicals, chamber music, violin quartets and solo pieces to film music, pop music and poetry and prose set to music. He has been a pioneer in building bridges between classical music and other art and theatre forms. Glass draws inspiration from sculptors, writers and poets; his film music – including music for The Hours – has been nominated for an Academy Award on three occasions.
