In the fiery program Phoenix, Amsterdam Sinfonietta and the piano brothers Lucas and Arthur Jussen are reunited for the fifth time. Including the new piece Anka Kuşu by the Turkish composer Fazil Say and the adagio from Mahler’s unfinished Tenth Symphony. A perfect concert for the winter months. Tickets are free.

In 2020 we played the Pärt über Bach program with Candida Thompson and Simone Lamsma, in which works by Pärt and Bach were intertwined. Maarten Corbijn and Georgios Rietveld made a short black and white film in their characteristic style from Arvo Pärts Tabula rasa, in which Thompson and Lamsma both play solos. Rietveld and Corbijn previously made the short films Misirlou and Tango for Amsterdam Sinfonietta.

Amsterdam Sinfonietta and the prize-winning recorder player Lucie Horsch take their audience on a hallucinatory trip through time, travelling from Italy, via England to Hungary. The programme features works by composers who transform diverse musical styles into their own musical idiom.

The French cellist Victor Julien-Laferrière won the First Prize at the Queen Elisabeth Competition. In this online concert he makes his debut with Amsterdam Sinfonietta in a programme featuring musical gems, with Haydn at its heart.

The German violinist Antje Weithaas returns to Amsterdam Sinfonietta in this online concert as guest concertmaster. She also performs as soloist in Stravinsky’s Divertimento for string orchestra, for which he drew inspiration from the Russian master Tchaikovsky.
